Morning all,

Not had cause to use passenger front window much, but on the occasions I have, there is quite a squeak being produced on the downward travel.

Its quiet when I put it up.

It even happens briefly on the short bit of travel during auto-drop when you open that door.

I am dreading its the infamous regulator playing up, but.....?

(Was still evident after a couple of operations last week, whilst there was plenty of water about.

Could it be the glass rubbing on the felt window seal on the top of the door panel

I've got the same issue....

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=119112

I've gone as far as soaking the whole window in WD and it still squeaks, I really believe its something inside the door, a mechanism or a runner and nothing in contact with the glass at all.

To back up my theory when I did spray silicone inside the door it did stop for a while.

Next step for me is to get the door card off when I get a bit of spare time.

Curious.. My front passenger window has acquired a squeak. Well, more of a screech really. Only on the way down, up is totally silent. Even more curious is that it only does it if the car is hot, as in sat in the full sun. First thing in the morning or at night it doesn't make a sound!

Then it is door card off time to spray some PTFE in the cassette

If you would like the door card instructions I have them to send out.

Thanks gents.

Mine is the same as Whitenemesis in terms of symptoms, def a screech. But not weather, heat or time dependant!

It goes in on Thursday for them to look into (literally) - hopefully under warranty!

Please report back on what, if anything, they find?

Is it just a coincidence that they are all passenger side!

Its the cable that frays and then snaps Malc, it wraps itself around the motor drive, don't think lubing any parts will help........

Did a drivers side one today!!!!

Mine was a driver's side one too, done under warranty, although mine was because of a rattle at the top of the door only when the window was right up, no screech. Noticed the driver's side rear was a bit noisy today when winding it up or down along with a clonk when getting to the bottom so will get that looked at too.

Forums are full of when not if stories of failure and like others have said they seem to be a stock item at the dealers and there's only one reason for that.

from another forum......

"kaos_cls500

I had this problem I opened the door panels and noticed that the wire that pulls the window is somehow causing the squeak. so I greased every moving part and it did work, but make sure that you put your hand deep inside the frame.

note: oil did not work"

better get me spanner out.

IMO fom personal experience it will be the regulator no doubt....MB warranty suggests lubricant first time around and replacement if it continues........Mine has gone on both front doors.....couldnt live with the noise on top of ****** tinnitus!

Best of luck:cool:
