Hi, I have a C Class Estate 2008 W204 C 200 CDI that has just gone through the 100K mileage barrier and I'm still not bored of it. Hopefully, I'll get another 100K out of it. However, a few months ago the DAB radio option on my Audio 20 system 'disappeared'. I can still cycle around the radio frequencies by pressing the radio button (FM, MW, LW etc) but the DAB option no longer comes up. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the answer was to replace the whole unit at a cost of £800

Has anybody any idea of what the problem might be? I went into the engineering mode display (very carefully) to take a look and things like the antenna were showing up as OK..

All you can do is to pull all the fuses for it and leave them out 10 minutes and replace in case the system has just locked up. You could just disconnect the battery but you would have to reset the windows and sun roof, but a better way of doing it.

Thanks Malcolm. I'll probably go for the battery disconnection approach, as I'm no technical expert. I wouldn't know where to start with removing fuses.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I tried disconnecting the battery and unfortunately it didn't work. It's quite annoying, as when I go into the engineering view, I can see that DAB stations are being found. The current DAB list in the engineering view is different to the one that was on there the other day, so obviously it's picking up different stations according to location. There is just no DAB option when I cycle the radio button. I wonder if its possibly something to do with the radio resetting and requiring a re-entry of the access/security code to 'activate' the DAB element of the radio?

Any ideas?

Yes the next move will be to get the car on STAR and see if the DAB can be activated again.

Sorry the power down did not work, 50% of the time it does.

No DAB option

Hi GoodJ, was wondering if you ever got this problem solved?
I too have what sounds like exactly the same problem on a 2012 c class. The options to select DAB has simply vanished! I can see the station list within maintenance mode, but the options to select DAB is simply no longer available.
I do have an appointment with he local MB dealer but was hoping to resolve this myself and at no cost!

There is a mod now for this, Mercedes are charging £200. Stand your ground a tell them that it has never been right. They only have to plug the car into STAR for 2 hours.

same sort of thing on BM, for software updates all they have to do is drive in the workshop connected the dealer kit add power supply and basically push go.... then come back and drive round the front when done. So at worst 1 hrs labour, if they weren't robbers it would be 30mins and as Malcolm points out when its fixing their software bugs should be resolved Free

Have you looked under the AM/FM section?

Options only vanish if the car is SCN coded and the datacard hasnt been updated with added options.
