Delivery date in datacard is meaning manufacturing year ?

It would be interesting (although quite difficult, I suspect) to research whether there is any correlation between (certain) faults and how long a car has been standing around waiting to be sold after being manufactured.

Like whether there is a "sweet spot" of, say, 1-2 months. Perhaps certain slowly-perishable elements like rubber bushings etc. deteriorate quicker if they have been experiencing no movement/use for the first year of their fitting.

On the other hand, one can speculate that if a car is used immediately after it is rolled off the assembly line some elements still need to "settle in" and not allowing for this might make premature failure more likely. Interesting stuff although hard to really objectively investigate. Not in the least because so many factors come into play.. the storage conditions/environment, the subsequent driving and usage style of the first owner, etc...

in my case is very long story~
first i order a new car from authorized dealer , silver color
after 3 day , i inform the dealer i want to change to Black color,dealer agree that ,
when i receive my car , i found that color of the car was from changer from Silver color to black color ( Original
COLOR is SILVER same as data card ) totaly uninformed.
The manager tell me the color cannot change after i sign the order form,they change the color for me because Comply with my request .
The manager say after i order , dealer will order all the part from Germany ,that why cannot change anything
I do not accept this reason.

receive car : Sept 2013
now i found the car delivery date is 2011 ???

after this ,
have a meeting between me , dealer and Authorized Representative from Mercedes.
in the meeting,Authorized Representative from Mercedes Insists the dealer is Reasonable to do this ..........

so i need to find out the delivery ( manufacturing date is 2011 ) to proof that
Mercedes alliance with the dealer to cheat consumer.

Tonglin, if you want proof of the date of manufacture, post your VIN as suggested by Toby1, or you can post it here.

The datacard "Delivery Date" is the date of manufacture (i.e; when it came out of the factory).

There may, however, be special rules in your case, where the car was assembled in Malaysia.

Does anyone know if the delivery date in this case would be the assembly date (I presume so) or the date the parts came out of Germany ?

Which website? I wouldn't trust any decode unless it comes directly from MB's EPC

Just out of curiosity though... does the car have any actual problems, or is this just a principle issue...? And if so, what principle?

I suspect that even in Europe/UK MB cars being in storage is more common than people think.

My SL that I bought as an 05 reg actually came off the line at the end of March 04 but wasn't registered in the UK until March 05!!! Came as a bit of a shock to me when this unfolded.

I made enquires with MB UK and all they could tell me was that it was manufactured to UK spec and "delivered" to Luxemborg. They couldn't or wouldn't tell me anything more. At first I thought there was some sort of scam going on where someone was running round in Luxemborg in a new car then shipping it to the UK and selling it as new having used it for a year!

Having looked at other SL's for sale there are lots of 05 reg cars with the CD based Command head units fitted so they have been in hiding somewhere as the CD based Command I think became obsolete in June 04.

I suspect that MB may have been producing cars to keep the factory busy and quietly stock piling in Luxemborg???

Anyone concur or know differently??
