I think taxing them off the road would be unpopular due to the cost of replacing them. It would leave them open to criticism about making private transport for the wealthy and create problems with work force mobility.If the Government go down the road of forcing polluting diesels and petrol's off the road would they not take the cheapest option like taxation rather than more stringent testing of emission equipment. I dont have a clue how the government works in conjunction with MOT centres in England, Scotland and Wales. Do they receive any funding etc from Government? or purely private enterprises with government oversight?
