My dad changed the oil in his box at the weekend,,,how do you check the oil level,,,is it when it is running or when it is cold,,,HELP>the car is a w202 sport.year 2000.

Engine running and at normal working temperature. Run the shift lever through the gears and back to park. Engine still running, remove the dipstick and ensure the level is between low and high marks. Too much oil or too little oil is not good.

Hi great information but I cant find my gear box (E240 V6 2.6 W210 ) box code 722.696 there is similar which is 7.5 +0.5 I would assume this is my box

Not really so as the plug was dropped 1999 and the box has been out since 1997

I just do not know why this info was missing from the list on the 772.6
