Hi there, I had a 1999 V-reg A-Class which was, unfortunately, hit in a side-impact accident. Every one of the panels was damaged making the car uneconomic to repair.
About 4 days later, the gearbox developed a problem ovenight. I could no longer get into third or fifth gear although I could force it into first. My driving had not changed following the accident and it was suggested to me that one of the gear box pins had been knocked during the accident but taken another few days (and 500 miles) to come loose.
Does that sound right? My knowledge of cars/A-classes is limited to understanding the four stroke engine and changing a tyre.
The insurance company are claiming that the gearbox damage was not as a result of the accident.
Any thoughts would be very welcome
Thanks
Rachel
