You need to get it on star to check codes, could be anything from faulty ignition switch to lack of fuel, endless possibilities with an intermittent fault...
Some of the resident indies may have come across a similar fault.

Could be worth checking the battery terminals, I have had this fault before when working in the trade.

Hello Jay, I have just joined up and so I'm new also. I have a Clc 220 cdi sport and my car does exactly as you have described to the letter. I have just retired and now I'm trying after some 4yrs of having had this problem looking for an answer as to how it can be rectified.
I first noticed the problem after getting my car back from a glow plug change at the main dealer for MB in Poole. I took the car back to them and they told me it could be a problem with many things and that they could investigate it further at my expense. I love my car and have been driving MB since 1977 but unfortunately in this country whenever you need to take your car for repair to main dealer it is looked upon by the representatives of MB here as an opportunity to rip you off.

Have you found out the cause in your case for your car to play up like this?

    Please help anyone.

    Tim.

Hi Tim,the OP hasn’t been back on here since this thread, so I doubt he’ll see it or reply.
My suggestion to you would be to contact the guys at MBS in Southampton, they know MB’s inside out and I’m sure this will be nothing new to them. I know it’s not just around the corner but worth the travel, there is at least one member on here travels from Poole to there to have work done

No problem, another closer choice has been posted against your other post (does that make sense?)
