So, post#29, by Calum...started this particular red herring...what next?
Get to 200 posts before the penny drops?
Can you suggest an alternative objective?
My MkIII escort, ABG768X, was registered 1 August 1981. The MkIII was released on a 'W' plate with the VVC (Variable Venturi Carburettor). The XR3 hot hatch had twin Webber carbs, before changing to fuel injection in the later XR3i.
I had a MkI Astra GTE 1.8 fuel injected, A221YCF, in 1983.
A Cavalier SRi 1.8 FI, C882PJB, in 1985.
An Astra GTE MkII 2.0litre 8 valve FI E68VJO in 1987
Escort 1.6 MkIII estate wreckmobile in 1987. Auto choke.
Orion 1.6 wreckmobile in 1988. Auto choke.
An Astra MkII wreckmobile in 1990, 1.6 non injected.Auto choke.
An Astra GTE MkII Campaign 2.0 16valve FI in 1990 H833JOO
The wreckmobiles were all company cars that got driven into the ground in short time due to the horrendous miles I used to do. Served their purpose, drive, go bang, get another, repeat.

I thought I had a spare wheel but I can't find it.
Post 150:
Yes I've found one of those but it doesn't look like the one above the drivers seat.

My lights go on and off when I go over bumps, what do you think is the cause?
Post 175: (the skills are improving)
I've tried the light switch and that makes no difference. After going round a corner I've noticed they stop going on and off, and the green light near the speedometer goes out too.

I have to keep topping up my coolant but the only leak is when I wash my windscreen.
Calum please note your problem has nothing to do with the seats or hand brake .You could have them with bench seats or individual seats...with the bench seat the hand brake was on the right hand side of the driver's side.
Please, just take the car back to the garage that did the job ! They will be happy to sort out any issues stemming from their work, FREE of charge.
I think the term "chugging" needs to be defined a bit more accurately - perhaps one of your famous youtube video's Callum - with sound naturally! Bonnet open and looking at the engine whilst its running? Blipping the throttle would be good as well...
But how would he get his foot to the accelerator pedal when he's looking under the bonnet with a camera?
To confirm.
1. Auto choke on the 1.5 engine. That knob is steering wheel rake or height adjust. You can usually hook index and middle fingers behind a choke knob to prevent it slipping out- they tend to (this era!) have a flat button of some sort to give positive control over.
2. I'm still willing to come out on Friday PM if you cannot work this out. I won't ask for fuel money, food or my usual hourly rate.
3. If it's a windup I'm really not going to be pleased.
4. Get a bicycle and helmet and cycle to work, 4 miles each way every day will kill any car.
4. Sell the damn Astra ASAP and buy something small and Japanese.
Someone needs to show him where the throttle body is... oh. No. Better not. Let's see on Friday eh Calum?
