The spikes fold out ......Run on railway track, or is it too wide?
Yep the cattle style auctions are a nonsense, presumably to generate excited bidders. The British auctioneers take it steadily and must achieve better results. It seems weird that high value cars going through US auctions are sold without reserve as well, but I guess it's probably a small minority.I have been catching up on chasing classic cars and seen quite a lot I have never heard of.
Must get myself over to California and have a look at one or two of those cars' shows he features.
The American cattle style auctions seem a bit odd as clearly some "privates" must miss a bid.
Perhaps a visit to some of the restore shops as well.
I liked my B Series Manta .....Not the best pic, but just seen this, while parked up, havin a coffee.

I had a few and Ascona's too. I will post photos of the project Manta B we still have when it comes out of the Carcoon, '78 SR Berlinetta with a 5ltr TVR Griffith engine and gearbox.I liked my B Series Manta .....
mine was from the era of proper chrome bumpers though.
Very nice 500 SE - low mileage @~93K miles
500 SE (may have been an L).
Looked clean and good, sounded fine and healthy, no smoke when the driver floored it a few times. Got to love a proper Merc! I’d rather have an immaculate one of these, with the AMG kit over my genuinely exceptional w221!
