I have a couple of questions here. Car in Question is a 192 - 1992 300SL 12v

1: do people here tend to change their oil base on miles or colour of oil? I've done a good 10k since my last change but the oil still looks brand new without a blackness. Would you still bother changing it?

2: I go to try and find my oil filter and I can't. Is this it?

If so then I assume I can get the bits down at GSF but it doesn't look like any oil filter i've ever changed.

3. Even if it is the oil filter or not, what are the 20 degrees c Min and max points?

That is your power steering reservoir - do not put engine oil in it!

The oil filter is at the rear of the engine, on the passenger side. It is a cartridge type BTW.

Yes, after 10,000 miles it should be changed.

Yeah I thought as much. What is the deal with the 20 degrees level indicator? Is that suggesting it should be between those two gauges at 20 degrees ambient? Seems odd since i have a separate dip stick for the power steering.

your dipstick

is probably for the automatic gearbox, if it's red-handled, and at the back left of the engine looking from the front.

The two levels in the PAS reservoir reflect the fact that the fluid will expand when hot,and if measured then, will fall below the required level when cold. So sample it cold...

Crickey! That is a good one :D

You might want to get a Haynes manual, and find out what is what on the car - guessing is not helping you...
