ML 270 / 2002
Hi there I have a ML 270 from 2002 and the absolute top speed is 135 KM/H. It also has a great lack of power going through the gears, it does not rev over 3000.

do you have any other faults, have you had any codes read, if so were they stored or current, will it rev past 3000 in park?

Possible MAF fault.

Had this with my 2001 C270 S203 about a month after I bought it - no kickdown, would not rev above 3k. New MAF transformed the car.

Hmm, since you keep prescribing MAF fault, maybe you could replace it with "need for STAR" hint.

This is a hard question as STAR will seldom pinpoint the MAF, in many cases the car will go better with it unplugged when it has failed.

STAR will usually say 02 sensor, just because the MAF can cause the 02 sensor to shift from its stored range.

It cost nothing to unplug it and try the car and it will not upset anything.

MB ML 270 CDI Aut. 2000
Hi,
I had the same symptoms on my ML 270 CDI also.
Useful rev range was from 2000 to 2600 and I had to change manually to keep revs on that range.
After a couple of weeks of guessing (after Star diagnose) it turned out to be a hole on the turbo vacuum line which eventually cut the line completely right from the connection to turbo.
We used very low tech approach, disconnect a vacuum line, blow and suck, if there is resistance then line is probably ok.
