Hello and welcome

I can’t say for definite, just that all the modern Mercedes I’ve had has had one. If you have a read of your manual it will explain the dash warning lights and the brake pad wear sensor.

Be wary as Mercedes dealers (and lots of other garages) will tell you well before they light that you need new brake pads. I always say, why is there a wear sensors? Their response is that it might come on before the next service and I’d have to bring it back in again...

I believe every modern day car is required to have brake wear warnings on the dash

Thanks for all the replies. In fact this is kind of the opposite way around. Its a 2nd hand car ,collected from the dealer and then drove back on Motorway so clearly didn't have to use the brakes on Motorway. Next morning drove the car and noticed a slight grating type sound when braking at slow speeds to stop.(cannot hear it at higher speed because of road noise etc I guess) Did a few times and could hear the slight grating sound. I say only light but noticeable. Just wonder whether that could be new pads bedding in, or old ones at limit ?. Had MOT few days before collected. No warning lights at all.

Could be just rusty brakes because it's been sat around awhile, give then some decent usage to clean the discs and take a look through the wheels. You should be able to see the discs and probably the pad thickness (outer pad anyway...)

Well funnily enough, just popped it down to the garage and they said exactly the same. Checked the
pads and is still around 70% left so all is ok. I'm just not used to these new fangled things, called
erm Brakes,lol.

Thanks anyway and alls now fine and I can relax.

None at the front of EmilysMum's 61 plate Citroen C3 ..... or were you thinking of more modern?
No to be honest I thought 2011 would have that convenience too... ah well maybe it’s a French thing ?

This noise very often occurs on pads that have been cooked, especially cheap ones. I would change them or at least take them out and inspect them.

I did wonder that. Since the car had been off the road for a month or so in a Mercedes dealer (and put through MOT) I assumed maybe they were a bit dirty. Anyway yes may well take them out and check. Thanks
