ML270 stuck in park

New here for the forum
I’m looking for some advice,
I’ve got an ml270 2005 model
Bought it after being parked up for 2 years, put a battery to it and up she fired and drove home around 2 miles,
Was busy with work and didn’t get near it for a few weeks
After starting it the transmission is stuck in park and will onto release when I press the shift lock in with a pen
So far Iv put a brand new battery in
Checked the wiring to ABS pump as I’ve seen on other threads it rubs through,
I plugged in diagnostic and have 2 faults in abs
C1035 steering angle sensor
C1037 rotation speed and lateral accelerator sensor fault in Can
I also have the ESP light lit on the dash (very left lamp on clocks)
Can any one advise me on this

Worth checking the ABS reluctor rings are all there, the holes are clear and they’ve not rusted out.

Try moving the steering lock to lock to reset the steering angle sensor after the battery replacement.
If there is no sound from the gear shift area when pressing the brake I would change the brake light switch before going any further with the gearshift problem. If not that you will need to delve into the shifter to check if there is power to the interlock solenoid and check for worn or broken internal parts.

Could be tricky to diagnose, as above, sounds like brake light switch but could be a lot of things, ABS,ESP light is likely a red herring, that doesn't usually lock the box. Half full cup of coffee spilt over the gear shift lever can wreak havoc, I discovered.....
