WHY are you doubting my word? Instead of making these allegations, I have given you the number of the Exeter dealership... Why don't you 'put up, or shut-up?' Dead simple.

Saying I am daft for taking the word of the General Service Manager is offensive.

I don't really care either way so I'm not phoning anyone, if anyone started being offensive, it was you, so I'm out on this one.

I apologised privately to the moderators last night and here I am apologising publically.

My bad and I sincerely apologise to the moderators and those unfortunate enough to read my comments. All I can say in my defence is that I strongly dislike being publically called a liar. Nuff said as I do not want to re-ignite this issue.

Off to the sin bin to take a time out and reflect

My final word on this, you were never publically called a liar, I suggested you were lied to, big difference.
I stand by my belief that when Mercedes handed over to the RAC the complete Mobilo system, to the extent of even transferring employees to the RAC (TUPE- When a business changes owner, its employees may be protected under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) regulations, and also handing over Mercedes own silver breakdown vehicles and tooling too, they would never allow one dealer to run it's own Mobilo service as if nothing had changed.

Think about it, when you phone the Mobilo number, you're now put through to a RAC call centre, Mercedes have no input at this stage. Do you really think Mercedes Exeter have employees on standby out of hours at night and weekends and the RAC call centre says I see your in Exeter, we'll pass your details on to them?

POINT ONE
I quite clearly, quite plainly stated I used the mobilio service this January.. January 2021. I quite clearly stated the technician that came to our house was from the Exeter Main Dealer. He turned up in a Vito van all decked out in Mercedes markings and fully loaded with the latest Mercedes Diagnostic equipment. NOT an RAC vehicle and NOT an RAC employee. How can anyone tell me that did not happen? More to the point... How dare they suggest I made up this visit.

If I said that van had four wheels, no doubt I would also be telling lies..

I have an excellent relationship with the General Service Manager, they are a senior member of the management team for the Exeter dealership. When I contacted this gentleman we had a bit of banter, then I asked a few questions about our hybrid car, then

I simply asked. "Have you now outsourced the mobilio coverage?"

The answer was an emphatic "No, we much prefer having our technicians do this work, just to maintain that personal touch" That is a statement of fact!!

I have known this gentleman for many years, and someone here that does not even know them, has the effrontery to call him a liar!!! SHAME on them. Where's the proof that both of us are allegedly lying?? You make unsubstantiated claims that both he and I are lying!!" Put up, or apologise! Show me any literature that emphatically states that Exeter, uses the RAC for the mobilio work. You must think you have this incorrect information?

Can't you see how offensive your accusations are? Of course you have called me a liar, how would you describe your accusation?? 'In January of this year I used mobilio and a technician from the Mercedes-Benz Main Dealer at EXETER attended. Not Plymouth, Not Truro, they may well have gone over to the RAC, I don't know, and I don't care!.

I supplied that 01392 telephone number. That number gets us to the operator at the Exeter showrooms.. Anyone of us reading this post can phone, ask to be put through to the service department where we should hopefully get an answer,,

Just one problem with that suggestion.... You will be called a liar when you get confirmation of what I have said.

I am very old fashioned in my ways,I believe in treating others how I would like to be treated. I MOST definitely would not call anyone a liar on a forum. I might suggest they are mistaken and if they insist they are correct, I would check out what has been said and by crikey I would apologise if I were proved to be wrong.. A concept someone might not be familiar with!

To highlight what a decent chap the General Service Manager is. He has suggested the next time my wife is up at Exeter, she pops in for a cup of coffee whilst they look at the pesky Dash-Cam settings. A free check and...... We never purchased our car from that dealership!! No doubt he is lying about that offer!!

Car is now achieving 188mpg!

I have just tried it and guess what??

It is NOT AN RAC NUMBER

Unlike some folks, I check out fact from lies.. and the number we use, the number I use is:

00800 1 777 7777

I don't care what others use, whatever number they use is their choice and I definitely would not call them a liar for using their number

00800 1 777 7777 "Welcome to Mercedes-Benz, press one for cars... etc etc

Don't tell me I'm lying, I checked to see if I contacted mobilio, I got through to the RAC!! I definitely did NOT get through to the RAC I just know you will not accept this but we have a saying.... When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!

An apology would not go amiss!

Mercedes own website advises they use the RAC, which is probably why there’s some “discussion“ on this thread. Link below to Mercedes website.

It doesn’t make it clear if in some areas other options are available, however from the above it looks like there has been service provided by a dealer.
