CLK 240 2004 2.6L Automatic
Hi everyone,

I am having problems with my clk240 (2004) with the 722.6 5 speed transmission. The gearbox was serviced 1000 miles ago.

It jerks between 1-2 gear, sometimes 3rd gear. Sometimes when it starts the gearbox is in “limp mode” where I can’t manually shift the gears and it doesn’t want to rev past 2k rpm. Restarting the car fixes this normally.

The other day when I was driving the car would go out of gear by itself and I would have to put it in park and turn it off and on for it to drive again

Browsing through the forums, people have said that this generally means I need to change the conductor plate. Other places have said to also change the solenoids and the overlap sleeves.

A specialist near me said £160+ VAT for labour, plus parts.

My question is do I need to also do the solenoids and overlap sleeves?

And if anyone is in the uk can they recommend any reasonably priced mechanics to get the work done from? Near East London / Essex.

Thank you for everyone’s help
