Hi, im new to this site but own a 2002 mercedes c270 diesel estate, was useing every day untill last week it decided to not change gear im pretty sure its in second maybe 3rd but i dont think it is, it will let me drive her up to 60mph nearly hitting the redline,

after lots of searching a main problem was the conductor plate/speed sensor, and the plug which plugs into that, so i replaced both of these with new parts, changed the oil new filter and no change, (gutted)

any help would be highly grateful.

also just to note, the s/w button it wont let me change this when pressed, and the auto tiptronic will not work, it is just in D all the time, but stuck in which ever gear.

When my c220 seized in gear it was due to it being full of oil I recall.... Dunnoe where it seeps in from but once drained and the leak fixed it was good as new..

With luck it can be washed out with lighter fluid and dried somewhere hot for an hour or two

N/s footwell, lift the carpet which gos under the dash, there your see a metal plate, undo the three 10mm plastic nuts and move forward, the gearbox control is to the left with two long plugs.....

It is often in the passenger foot well, I can check for sure later, the whole harness will have oil in it, but most will run out, mine was oily but it did not affect the gearbox.

Please just repost here tonight to remind me
