"New Hi Brake light and a new lock" - expensive solution:eek:

If you fir a replacement lock presumably it can't be "keyed alike" so you will have to carry two keys?

I still think that a decent indy like https://www.prestigecarservice.co.uk/ would be able to solve your problems possibly without needing any parts.

If trying to charge don't work its break rear light job. Great design. Slr230 a great drive but some real school kid design. As I how well it let's water in and how to mount elcrtonic so they can take an expensive swim. Fortunatly mine always stayed in the dry. Tho that has its issues, esp if er indoors won't put lid back on dog food drum.!! So got shafted by the rodents for a not very funny month. Wud hav been OK but the bstds are wires right next to plug., plug with 5 in tails avail from benz. But never happy after as cud not be sure if any other more serious related issue just around corner
Following this I went on a serious rodent elimination mission!!!
It did not work…
Locksmith next option….get to the end of my tether

Not surprised. It's nonsense isn't it when the simple opening of a boot gets to be impossible. Doesn't help that the lock is in a weird position either. Let us know the outcome - it may help others faced with the same situation.

Whilst not totally accessible there is a big terminal in the drivers footwell under the carpet but I wouldn't relish the job of getting the carpet out and back in neatly.

Mb did make a way to get in the boot with a flat battery, the override/dead lock via the emergency key blade. However this often gets forgotten about until needed. I have a blanking insert to stop all the road crud jamming the lock on mine.

I had been trying that for a couple of days..
It was turning both clock and anti-clockwise but nothing happening……

Yes it jams up and doesn’t move the lever across, they should be checked before it’s too late along with the drivers door.

Glad you have made some progress at least. The key thing isn't helped by the fact that the bit you grip is too small to get any real purchase. I'd be giving the lock and other moving parts a good dose of silicone spray( Keeping it away from electrical connectors).

Thanks for that..
Car started first time off the cracker…
All good now but missed my appointment with the Auto-sparks to have the headlight fitted and fit new brake lens.
Earliest appointment now the 19th..
MOT booked and MOT 20th…grrrr
Will have them check the lock as well as think maybe an electrical issue as opposed to mechanical
