S203 back end clattering

W203 estate avantgarde, just had shocks replaced by last owner

On uneven roads rear end clatters .... anti roll bar links?

May be wheel carrier bushes, lower arm to subframe bushes...

Or worn lower arm bushing, or shocks not fitted correctly or... or... or....

As stated above, could be a multitude of things.

The only way to check for sure is to get it up in the air and check everything on the back end for any play.

When my S203 started making odd rattling noises it turned out to be the rear springs breaking up which is apparently not uncommon. March 2015 it cost me £150 + VAT = £180 so not too bad. No problem since (touch wood etc).

But as umble says the last job is always suspect...

Still, at least you can be comfortable that it's unlikey to be a big bucks job.
