Safety Recall: Reversing Camera

I got a letter from MB today related to a reversing camera fault on my Vito W447 and wonder if this might affect multiple models with the same camera and software version.

It talks about a possible faulty memory chip in the reversing camera that could lead to the camera freezing. A 30 minute software update should fix the issue.

30 minutes ? Sounds a long time for a software update. Are they doing the update with a Sinclair

they have to find in the car park fit a seat cover, drive in the workshop 5 mins
plug it in and fight the stupidity, trying to get it to work and get approval to load appropriate software 5 mins
push the patch down a rusty wire with as much bandwidth as Marconi's first patent theft 8 mins,
leave it to go wrong, then come back the car and try to remember why they plugged it in 6 mins
deliberately kerb a wheel and scratch the corner of the bumper on the one side you didn't look, 2mins

Big “DO NOT WASH” notices in my car when it goes for service. The only time I was ever tempted was when my SLK went to MB in Brisbane who had sub-contracted their car-washing to a company of nubile young ladies.
