Hello, my satnav screen from my 2019 V class 220 marco polo got cracked today. When i purchased the car i wanted to have the bigger satnav however the car i finally bought was with the smaller satnav with the plastic frame on top of the screen.
Now the situation asks for me to repair this screen, but my question is if I can upgrade to the bigger screen or I must use a like for like display?

Update! Cost of replacing the old screen at MB was a bit over 800£, still waiting on a quote from command guys. Here on the forum nobody has any ideas, I see.

How do the three mounting screws line up? I'd say if they match you probably don't have an issue with fit. Probably need a software update, but that's a guess.

The screen is identical, everything fits as the original. The original screen even if is broken I can see it is receiving power and powers on, the replacement unit ( from car spare ) is not. Now it would be possible the screen I have bought is not working as it is broken (the unit was from a C class, and after dismantling the head unit I only kept the LCD screen) . Or it can be coding required (but what to code for a lcd screen). I used to work in a computer repair shop when I was young and replaced many laptop screens and the procedure is very similar, but in my case the screen doesn't power on.

The question is if a replaced screen needs to be coded or is just a plug and play part. If is plug and play then the replacement screen I got is no good (either broken or not compatible) but if it needs coding then even if I order a brand new display it won't work unless specialist install it with required codes.
