Hi all
Car in limp mode due to inlet manifold blockage caused by swirl flap / DPF blockage etc.
Mercedes E320 W211 3.0litre Diesel estate. 2007

Seen loads of threads on here for this, and read most of them.
I am unsure what to do to be honest. Click Mechanic said they could take out swirl flaps and DPF and if I got the engine re-mapped, all would be good, but click showed up and could not do it mobile, so they have been looking for another garage that will do it. They have all said they do not want to help me.
The Re-mapping company said they have a garage that they always use, and they will help, but that was 3 weeks ago and they have stopped replying to my weekly calls.

Seems no one wants to remove or clean swirl flaps and DPF.
I understand that removal of DPF could have a detrimental effect, but surely it can be cleaned and put back in. I am getting so worried that the swirl flaps will break up and enter the engine, which would have extream results for me.
I am located in Oxford, but nervous to pay Mercedes main dealer prices.

Any help of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome, I had a inlet manifold issue few years ago. In the end I got the manifold replaced for under £600 all in. They can be a pain to get to and would take a few hours to get to. Can it not be unjammed?

Hi Dean. I’m sure it probably could be but where to take it.
Just need a local garage that will do it without an endless cost estimation and a huge intake of breath when quoting.
Would love a recommendation local to me that knows about Mercedes that won’t rip me off.

A70ABB0A-72ED-437A-9EB5-9B37DEB070D1.jpeg How do you know the inlet manifold is blocked? You can’t see until it’s removed. Or is it the swirl flaps are jamming? Not saying it’s not blocked but you have to strip to find out, if you were to strip, then replace the oil cooler at the same time. Or it could be just the linkage worn. Here’s a blocked one. :)

Worth travelling a small distance for an expert buddy , Ian is always contributing on the site . As he says below how does a garage know the inlet manifold is blocked ?

I can’t be sure, as the car is in limp mode and the fault code suggested inlet manifold swirl flap issue. This is what click mechanics reported
  • Diagnostic Carried out regeneration Cleaned. sensor covered in engine oil Flaps sticking resulting in blocked dbf
I realise the manifold might not be blocked so need it investigated. While it is stripped, would it be advisable to remove the swirl flaps.
The re-map company tell me they can trick the ECU to think the flaps are still there and working correctly and it will give the car better fuel efficiency and more torque. Is it wise to remove DPF
What do i do??

I had a sheered bolt on my manifold and the codes read jammed swirl flaps. Even MB carlisle told me it was a jammed no2 swirl flap. I took it to a Indy who said nope you had a sheered bold and needs a replacement manifold.

That would be Pattons as was, now moved and Stan Palmer (Count your fingers after shaking hands) has moved into their old showroom.

Car booked in with Ian at Calcot in Reading. Will update when all repaired with results.
Is that with us? As we’re in Caversham, Reading. Not Calcot??

Yes I see that now.
Looks like I may have made a mistake.
Now spoken to the real Ian @star. Caversham

Apologies all round if I have offended anyone.
