From my experience, dealers are now supplying cars with aftermarket AMG badges fitted. My cousin bought a C250 Coupe new, dealer 'fitted' an AMG boot and bonnet badge 'free of charge', without him having asked. I know a couple other people who've viewed and bought an 'AMG Line' car, and upon collection there is suddenly an AMG badge on the boot....

What people say, and what they do can differ… Any dealer will sell you an AMG badge if you ask and fit it for you as well…
I’m not aware of many dealers giving things away for free… if you know of any please let me know…
Although I could possibly see a greedy dealer “up-badging“ a car to realise a better sale price…

Wish I could have taken a photo of what pushed past me yesterday morning waiting to overtake a peleton of cyclists blocking the road. I'd seen the Porsche badge on its bonnet in my rear view mirror (and after 20+ years of Porsche ownership I know what it looks like, even on a Cayenne!) - but this chav on a private plate (ever seen an M74 ... registration plate on a Cayenne???) has replaced the Cayenne (possibly turbo) badging on the tailgate with - wait for it _...

Lamborghini!!

That's true, it happened to me. It's not easy to see what the invoice covered, but an extra badge wasn't mentioned specifically. My boot lid reads "C300" on one side and "AMG" on the other, and I'm glad to be able to confess everything here, as I thought it was possible that I might have been "exposed" in this thread. I'm not wholly innocent of misrepresentation though, the car came with a badge that I hadn't asked for, but I quite like it, so I've left it in place. In mitigation though, my car is a genuine AMG line C300, and I've got a full set of floor mats to prove it.

Same boat for my cousin, we removed the badges not long after he got it - the front grille badge certainly wasn't a genuine MB part. I've also seen a lot driving around Northampton the same, i can see a pattern emerging here....

No photo unfortunately but a Mercedes came up behind me in Upper Haliford with an LED lit star on the grille. Looked like a cheap Christmas decoration.
