Thank you. How do I change that? i.e. which side of the engine bay will that be in? I know I should look at the online database (MBepc) to see what that shows, which I will do now.
Take it to MBS and have the transmission diagnosed before you begin to throw money at it. Could be any number of faults that need a Star diagnosis to take the next step.

Tis the oil in the gearbox, torque converter. I think there is also a filter in there too.
From underneath or perhaps £250 to get it done

Plus I lost the manual ability to change gears...
Yes, that was one symptom.....
Okay, that’s what I’ve had too, boost leak is the likely issue or sticking actuator, as it’s a CVT gearbox so tried to compensate the loss of power by increasing the engine speed
