The first and most important one would have been, don't accept the first offer of putting your car on a driveway, you never if your partner will offer you the back of their house instead!!! That was my biggest mistake of all. The second one is that I should never have taken up the offer of using another credit card knowing what I am like with them. Even if it did mean I did have new tools. The third big one was that I should have trusted what my former partner told me in that my soon to be ex-girlfriend quite often changes the truth or twists it and that in actual fact she was lying after all.
People always make decisions based on "best available infomation" at the time.....and if that info turns out to be wrong, then all that can be done is to put it down to experience, and learn from it. You are not the first ( or will be the last) to make this discovery. In as much as possible, I always try to avoid the involvement of other people, but if absolutely neccessary, I keep it to a minimum. Luckily, nowadays, for working on my car ( or friends cars) I have my own space...but there were times in the past when I had to use other people's shed's etc. Luckily for me, it worked out OK. as they were friends in the best sense of the word. But I know well where you are coming from.
As for credit card's.......unless you have either a will of iron, or tightly controlled credit limits, they can be financial death traps. And this is true in all situations, and can happen to anyone. Try and put it behind you, and good Luck for the future

If you need a lift anywhere or another set of eyes drop me a pm.

The Clk 208’s are great cars imho and not a lot to run. I wouldn’t have thought there would be much in it between one of those and an A class.

Okay. So, ideally I am looking for a cheap run around and having seen a couple of A Class Mercedes-Benz I am now looking for something under £1000 as a nice cheap run around so as to get my finances out of debt and then focus on a better and newer Mercedes-Benz.
So, Mercedes-Benz A class, under £1000, passes last two MOTs, diesel fuelled, transmission either way, average mileage, and not too far out of my area (PO12 3NX) however if it looks like it’s worth the travel I will take a look.

I don't understand your, "passes last two MOTs", requirement.

Okay, the reason for that is that sometimes old advisories may not be fixed immediately and then they come up as severe for later MOT’s. Therefore it is essential to know that there are no hidden faults in the past that will not come up again in future.

Sorry Robbie, but what you are saying just doesn't add up.......
MBS was selling a pretty good A Class for £650 with 12 months MOT. MBS being a what, £7 train ride away practically door to door and you said you couldn't afford it because of Tax and Insurance.
Not to mention that MBS is a ruputable Mercedes Repair Centre so although "might be a bit rough around the edges" would most definitely be Mechanically 100%!.
And now you say you want one for £1000.00....???! If you couldn't afford one for £650 how could you afford £1000.00? And one with an impeccable MOT Record!
I'm not sure if you are aware but New car sales are down BIG TIME resulting in a dwindling used car market pushing prices up!
Cars that were generally selling for £850-£1000 18 months ago are now up to around nearly twice that!

I think your expectations are unrealistic if not a little naive!

And on top of that you want another Diesel!!!!! Going by your previous experience I would've thought you wouldn't want even a "sniff" of the stuff......

I know this might seem harsh but I tell it how it is - I don't think anyone is doing someone any favours by beating around the bush!

The reason for wanting a diesel is because I managed to get a load of diesel out of my old car before she went to scrap.
My apologies if I appear to change my mind however things are changing around me constantly and I realised that actually it would need to be around the £750 mark as I would need to factor in the insurance and possible tax costs.
So again my apologies if I seem to be chopping and changing as my mental health also affects me somewhat on occasions.

If that car from MBS is still available I will get in touch with them again.

Slow down, sit down and think about it. Would you really buy a diesel car purely because you might have £50 worth of fuel? Think long(ish) term and look for a car that fits the criteria. Write down pros and cons and make a decision from that. You can always look back and remind yourself about why you made the decision.

With a Mercedes-Benz A160 2011, 2.0litre, grey, W169.
Of which I already have a question…

On the dashboard, on the bottom section of the display where in my case it shows the speed in km/h, the correct 24hr time and as mine is automatic, which mode i am in. Is there any way of changing the km/h to mph?
There are more however that will do for now.
