Morning everyone,

Sadly the saga has now come to an end and my beloved Mercedes-Benz is going to the scrapyard this week.

I was told by 'her!' last month that my car needed removing immediately as she had some diggers coming in to move earth from the front to the back of her property.
So on 23/06/2021, I arranged for the low loader to get the car back to Gosport. On my arrival at her house, I asked for the rest of the items that were originally in her garage back so that I could put them in the back of the car. As I picked up the box of bits and started walking back towards the car I spotted something that didn't look right. There was a hole in the passenger side window and the window had been smashed in. I reacted and stopped in my tracks to which Jane said "what's up?!", I turned back to face her and said "look at the window!!", to which she replied, "when did that happen?" I replied, "I don't know Jane but you've got the ring.com so can easily find out!!" As we got closer there was a punch hole in the middle and glass on the seat inside (see photos) and once we had cleared the smashed glass from the window as it would be travelling on the low loader I happened to notice something else. Whoever had done the window had also used a crowbar to not only smash the window but also attempted to get into the car by each door plus the fuel cover. So I now had crowbar marks on every single door on the car. Anyway, I sank even further down into my pit of depression and once I got the car back to Gosport realised that I could no longer carry on and I had to scrap her. My beautiful Mercedes-Benz!!!

Oh and just one final point, a whole load of tools were stolen. View attachment 69395 View attachment 69396 View attachment 69397 View attachment 69398 View attachment 69399 View attachment 69400 View attachment 69401 View attachment 69402 View attachment 69403

And yes I fully intend to buy another Mercedes-Benz, they are rock solid awesome cars.....
I’m sorry to read this and do hope that you find a new runaround soon, chin up and keep going as you’ll get there in the end, plus looking for a new car is always the best bit, lots of us here really enjoy doing that and I’m sure many would be happy to look at a car if it’s too far away for you to travel

Very sorry to read this, cars are replaceable people are not and if you were there when this awful vandalism act took place you may have been harmed.
That's a right downer, for sure!!! But as others have said, Chin up, start the search for the replacement. Good luck

Just out of interest Robbie, what sort of budget do you think you could scrape together?

Currently not a lot. The scrap yard gave me £389 so I decided to put another £500 into a fund to INCLUDE tax & insurance, so I am looking at around £500 I guess for now. I.E. a smaller class A would be perfect.
Old one though.

Of course a whole load of tools were stolen at the same time. No insurance however I am already suspicious of her or her mate.

If you don’t mind a little work then this might suit, the 208 is fairly simple to work on

We have a 168 for sale here at the moment, bit beaten up but a year’s mot on it! £650!

Okay, what’s a 168? Do you have more details and a photo?
It’s whether I can afford six months tax and monthly insurance payments to get restarted financially is the crucial part. So what would the tax be and the registration for the insurance check please?

If you go to "Google" (on the Internet) and type in W168 and then press "Enter" you will find more info than you'll ever need.....

And a tip - NEVER leave tools in a your car! Especially in a remote location.....

"Good luck"!

Q, If there were lessons to be learned from your experiences over the period of ownership of your last car, what were they?
The first and most important one would have been, don't accept the first offer of putting your car on a driveway, you never if your partner will offer you the back of their house instead!!! That was my biggest mistake of all. The second one is that I should never have taken up the offer of using another credit card knowing what I am like with them. Even if it did mean I did have new tools. The third big one was that I should have trusted what my former partner told me in that my soon to be ex-girlfriend quite often changes the truth or twists it and that in actual fact she was lying after all.
