I need to change the bush in my steering idler arm it has failed the MOT on it, I also have a caution on my drag link so I intend to change the lot. I did the Damper less than a year ago so that’s OK.

I had a look today to see what’s what and all seems straight forward except for the bolt head on the pivot bolt on the idler, see pic. This looks like a special tool job, is it? Anyone done this job before and know what to use here?

Also any advice on best priced parts and quality of parts to get would be welcome. I only do 6k ish a year and the car is 12yrs old so I think pattern parts OK this time as the cars not got that much life left in it.

Cheers
:)

Hi,
I have done this job though a good 5+ years ago.
For that bolt you will need a Torx socket, what size i don,t know, as mine was normal hex head.
I also used pattern items from Euros with no issues but if i recall i used the more expensive option for the drag link assembly.

Thanks Andy, i looked at Torx sockets online and they seem quite reasonable to buy so will get one. Euros just have the cheaper drag link at the moment at £90, looks ok though.

Cheers
