Hi
The blower fan is behaving erratically and uncontrollably - speed varies, runs full speed, sometimes behaves itself, runs then stops approx 60 seconds after turning EIS key to "Off".
Questions:
1) Is this caused by the Blower control module resistor?
2) What is the MB part number for this for a 2002 built C270 (5 cylinder diesel)?
3) How do I ascertain whether my car is 120KW/63HP or 125KW/170HP (the websites ask me to choose which of these is mine)?
4) Which brand should I buy - cannot see a Bosch and prices vary widely from £30 to £100?
All replies appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Further to my initial posting above:
1) Blower control module resistor has been replaced by a mid-range aftermarket part (genuine MB part would be on 'back order').
2) Control panel in front of gear stick has been replaced with a good secondhand part.
No change or improvement.
Cabin blower runs full speed. If a/c is on, blower runs slower. If EIS is turned to 'off', blower stops after exactly 60 seconds. A/c has not been recharged for at least two years and appears to be blowing cold. The problem started while I was driving the car as normal.
Any ideas, please.

Unfortunately aftermarket blower resistors are rarely any good, either don't work correctly or fail very quickly. I suspect that will be your problem.

Thank you peterws1957.
Noted - I will order one from my local MB parts department.
Does anyone have any other thoughts on what could be causing the cabin blower to run at full speed?
All replies appreciated.

Would it not be because the resistor is not resisting? Just a guess.

Agreed that this is a possibility ..... but what lies between the control panel (in front of the gear stick) and the blower control module? How does the rotary knob communicate with the blower and is there a fault somewhere between them, possibly in a SAM? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated as otherwise parts are possibly being replaced unnecessarily at great cost.
