The tyre life of those Michelins was very surprising I have to say. I don't drive like Stirling Moss and I rarely have any load in the back. The wear was even across the thread. Bit of a head scratcher. I'd be surprised if I can better 20,000 on the rear with any make.

My cheapo, £50 each, tyres beat 20000 on the back Toby...and the front.

Got 35k on a pair of avons at the moment, 20k on front 15k on rear... £70 each, got 15k on nexens on front after your recommendation Matty, and these look new... Have a new pair to fit to the front and swap fronts to back again..£45 off tyre leader (50% of uk price!) I'm a convert... Budget price, far from budget grip

glad your likeing them Ricardo, just changed mine at 45k and they weren't too bad but as i hadn't kept an eye on the allignment the inner edges were badly gone, could have got another 5k out of them i think.

I must be driving like Carlos Sainz then

When we bought the car, it had a set of Cooper fancy top of the range tyres on. It felt as if they were made of candy-floss compared to the others I've had on. I didn't keep them long.
Best I've had so far were the Avon ZV5s, for grippy feeling. The Pirellis, Barums, Falkens and these new Toyos are all pretty close. It's very subjective anyway. I have noticed I do not manage much more than 20k a set, regardless. I blame all the windy hill roads I choose to drive.

Brakes have become very noisy in application, especially at motorway speeds. It sounds like the pads are worn but they are all good. In the garage here for a checkover.

In other news, the NSR arch has started bubbling. :(

Garage reports that there is plenty of life left on the pads. Front discs ok. Rear discs are slightly corroded. They've offered to replace the rear discs and pads for £185 with no guarantee that will fix my rumbling/droning noise.

Apart from three chips now, I've had this crack slowly growing but it seems to have stopped for now. It's about 30 cm long and turns 90º right under the sticker. My insurer's 'approved' company is Auto Windscreens. I am loathed to try them but I think I have no choice.

Have a new pair to fit to the front and swap fronts to back again.

You should never do this, new tyres should always be put on the rear (Provided the car has the same size all round)

Unusual event yesterday; engine cut out at peak revs during hard kickdown in 2nd. EPC warning on the dash and it slowed down and died. Whilst still rolling I switched it off and started it ok. Carried on my journey without incident.

I loaned to my brother in May and he reported the same issue but I thought nothing of it.

Hopefully it will have stored an error code. My gut feeling (wild guess probably) is not enough fuel is being pumped on demand or too much fuel for the injectors to cope with.

My guess is rail pressure not high enough (when you floor it the rail should pressure should rise quite high!), likely due to injector leak off at one injector.
If so, the leak off tests ought to be done revving the engine hard.

Ouch ! Toby that cracked screen looks bad, would replace it as soon as possible before it caves in on you when driving.
It would drive me nuts looking at that.

Yes, I must do it this month as the MoT is next month. Just waiting for a dry spell in case they come round and do it in the work car park.

Good news, the brake droning/rubbing noise has gone. I guess I've worn through whatever was causing it.

MoT due on the 14th and the windscreen people have booked me for the 12th. Surprised at the delay but there we go.
