On the subject of leather cleaning.... what are the recommendations if you haven’t got the real thing? My C300 came with “artico” . Any guidance and advice on how to look after this?

Wet wipes / baby wipes worked well when I had Artico on the CLK
Its essentially vinyl plastic, so didn't need anything else

My manual says:
“clean artificial leather covers with a cloth moistened with a solution containing 1% detergent (e.g. washing-up liquid).”

Just finished a 5 hour drive, not pleasant driving as too much traffic which was surprising given it's a Thursday.

Car was great and nice place to be stuck though :)

I only ever drive for that length of time when I visit the folks in Eastbourne ( around 4 hours with good traffic ) other than that I keep my journeys as short as poss

The more time I spend in my car the happier I am :), I've another 400+ miles to go on my trip and looking forward to every minute. It's why I'm in my Mercedes after all, I didn't buy it to wash it all the time

You need to get out there in your waterproofs, now is the best time to wash it !!:D The only problem will be that people will think you are slightly unhinged !

I’m glad I’m not the only unhinged MB owner...o_O

Cleaned it all off this morning ready for a longish (around 250 mile) trip tomorrow.

Consequently it's lashed down all day and rain is forecast in the morning as well. Ah well, never mind, I'll try to give it a quick swill down at MSL which is nearly on my way to where I'm heading. :)

Today I drove 475 miles to North Wales, then various other bits of Wales then back home. 27.4mpg recorded.

Yesterday 390 miles to a supplier up in TGN. 27.8mpg.

Yesterday- minor disaster in Der Panzerkinderwagen VI; “The steering’s locked and smoke is coming out from under the bonnet!” while I’m stuck in the Birmingham rush hour. RAC duly called; power steering belt had shredded itself two miles down the road during the school run. The RAC tech was great, SWMBO drove slowly back home, he went away, got a new belt and fitted it later that day. Great service there.

I hope it's not too late.. but.. On the weekend I replaced the two rear self-levelling suspension airbags on my E350 S212.

At the same time I introduced a knocking sound in the rear left when I go over even the slightest bump :( Going to investigate further this evening..

A little extra mod

That explains it.. It looked like you painted the brake caliper in your living room.. then I noticed the wheelwell and was totally confused :)
