They don't drive past... they (expletive deleted) well FLY past with inches (or millimetres over there) to spare! I had a flat on the dual carriageway round near Heathrow a few years ago - the maniacal drivers got to me and I bent the jacking tool into an "S" shape under the stress!

New tyres all round - set of Conti Sport Contact 5 MO far more confidence inspiring that the cheap stuff that was on there when I bought it. Why people buy any old rubber for cars I will never know, the thing handled like a banana skin on them.
For info - F1 Autocentre came up best on price, full set was just over £420 for 18" staggered setup which was a good deal better than Black Circles for the same tyres - £122 for the rears, £87 for the fronts VS £149 and £106 respectively.
I was honestly surprised that they didn't charge or even offer any extras either - even with the free alignment check they could find no adjustment worth doing.

Drove down in a friends sprinter van, to pick up a 617 lump for the new 123 from Devon.

There and back in 9 ish hours. Knackered.

    Welcome to my world Alex!

Can quickly become quite a tedious drive, can't it? Did you do A303 or M4 & M5?

Definitely, especially the last 80 miles on the way back. I did A303. Left the house at 5am so missed out most of the rubbish at least.

It's frequently taken me 7+hrs to get from Plymouth to Haslemere area, let alone Biggin Hill.

Best run I've had was leaving Biggin at 23:00... lovely & quiet. But did get home at 03:45! o_O
