I don't think the 250cdi is as economical as it says on the tin.......I can manage to record 50.1 on a 21 mile journey in the early hours at 48mph but normally it's around 47mpg on the same journey during the day, but combined its 42.1 which seems to be constant. On a long journey out of town we will be lucky to see 47mpg on a 154 mile trip. That is in eco mode as well. This SLK is lighter than all the other because it doesn't have the usual extras. But it goes like stink........

Thats a bit better than the R then...
The R is showing a 2000 mile average of just under 30mpg but in a run can get up to 41 if I drive like Miss Daisy. More often I get 37-39 on a run. Not bad really for such a big lump with a big diesel.

Had the 230 boot lid drop on my head. Fortunately quite slowly. Time for new gas struts (had noticed they were a bit weak anyway).
