Just topped the tyre pressures up to 35/36 to increase the mpg . All my life I’ve always just put them at 32/33 regardless .

Did the E class lower rear control arms the other day , 6 hours all in ….it’s fiddly on axle stands . I thought the final 120 degrees turn on the main camber bolt to the body work was going to loose me a few inches of intestine that might need pushing back in …rubber gloves anyone ?

Car feels good now after the front alignment was done as well .

I still have an very slight low knock from the front , so as my final final attempt to make it go away I’m going to replace the ball joints that are on the very top of the E class hub carrier …£40 for the pair from Autodoc . After that replacement everything apart from the front shocks have been done .

MOT done today on the 207. Passed with one advisory for a rear tyre which I expected. I will change both. Granted, it does minimal miles now and only in the summer months, but I'm chuffed to bits with this car every year I own it!! Also had the wheels aligned (explains the tyre wear). Also asked them to throughly check rear subframe for the dreaded internal rot. A1 condition. Winner.

Hope you had the tyres changed BEFORE the alignment was done

B service for the S212 yesterday, all fluids and filters changed as it was time, they tried to find a knocking sound at the rear of the car and found the exhaust hangers pretty bent, they think it’s been reversed into at some point and attempt at straightening, then take a look at the warped disks on the front again, confirmed that the hubs are the root, ever so slightly out so pushing the disks out at the edge, explains why they don’t warp right away but usually take a good month before it happens. So it’ll be booked back in to sort that.
Next week it goes to the body shop to have the lower grill replaced after the pheasant decided to go through it, they’re also going to realigne the off side wing as the shut lines are just a bit out and has always bugged me (not enough to take it all apart myself though), case of while the bumper is off it’s easier access to other things so why not

A service done, Exhaust manifold pressure sensor, turbo seals and water pump replaced. hopefully that's it for now!

Did the E class headlights yesterday , so just treated the CLK to the same work . This time I thought I would take some pics . I used sandpaper of the grades 1500,2000 then 2500 with some spray lube . These correspond to the first 3 pics .
I never took a before pic because they weren’t that bad , a bit of UV scum on the top 1/3rd .
I took the pics mainly because of the trauma when you first use sandpaper on headlights , you just have to keep saying “IT WILL POLISH OUT” over and over again .
All done by hand apart from the stage with the Meguiars where I used the DA polisher

That shows a really, really good job there. Did you end with the anti-UV coating?

That’s tomorrows job when it’s dry weather . I’ve got a couple of UV liquid sachets that came with a kit I used on the E class .
Apparently the Megs liquid also has a UV protector in it

Today: picked up the 221 with new brake caliper, dropped off the UnMerc thingymabob for various little odds n sods that I can’t do on the drive.

Tomorrow: collect the 251 with new working a/c, thanks to @Welwyn Merx for an excellent job and quick turnaround!

I think that's a typo from the car. Should've read Service ED - Extremely Damp.
