An ugly baby at that, but as they say the ugly baby always grows up into the most beautiful child. It'll end up just like his dad :p :D

A nice convoy yesterday and today to Oxford for a business meeting, daughter drove my son in law (Co-Director) so we had the SL and the SLK together. I found a nice parking slot next to the CEOs DB9, overnight in the Courtyard Marriott seemed weird having an over nighter during Covid.

Marriott are being very strict, upon dining was told 2x households not allowed to mix, no pre-drinks had to order food first but once they were informed it was a business Director's meeting all seemed ok. Crazy times but pleased to see only 1x party allowed in lifts and everyone masked up in communal areas.

Today i have been sorting out a few jobs on mine. Both front wheel bearings got a slight nip up to remove the play and also done a bit of digging to find a rattle thats been there for a while. When the engine is hot i get a noise from the turbo side and sounded like a loose heat cover but it turned out to be the actuator arm causing the rattle. Must admit i first thought it could be the chain but i thought it was odd that the rattle was not there from start up so it had to be something else. Just got to decide now if its worth getting the turbo rebuilt to stop the rattle or live with it as the car has only done 66k and i have no issues with the turbo.

Started the search for summer tyres, I’m lucky enough to have separate 19” rims for the warmer weather, 18’s for winter...
Confusing how different online sites suggest different ‘standard’ widths!

I’ve just never found them cheaper :D

I've always bought locally, our local guy is always keen to do a deal, lot less hassle :)

Put the E350 battery on charge for a couple of hours until the amps dropped to zero. Its been on Sorn for most of the year, only done 3K in the SLC & another 3K on the FJR1300.

I’ve never found them more expensive :p
Maybe it depends on tyre make , I just checked some Uniroyal 5’s for the E class , Camskill,Tyreleader are cheapest , then Oponeo,Mytyres are the same but a few quid more .
I’ll bear then in mind for future comparisons though

Take a look at Goodyear EfficientGrip when you need some. Better rated than Uniroyal 5’s and cheaper.
I’ve been running them on the rear and very impressed with them.

I had them on the 968 cab and now on the front of the SLK (EG Performance on the SLK IIRC), much happier with them on the SLK compared to the Hankooks they replaced, just waiting for the rear Hankooks to wear down and I'll put EG's on those as well!

When I sold the SLK I left the almost worn out winter tyres on the car, which means I have a set of almost new Rainsports in the garage. It’s currently on Nokian Weatherproof all season tyres, which will stay on until summer. The original SLC tyres are almost worn out, so I will move the Rainsports onto those rims.
