I bought this car last week knowing it had a problem with both of the remote key fobs.

One starts the car and unlocks but wont lock the doors, the other did nothing at all.

I changed the batteries in both but no difference.

Last night a saw a thread that suggested pointing the fobs at the rear view mirror sensor and pressing the unlock button(or was it the lock, I can't remember), hey presto!

The key that did not work at all now starts and locks and unlocks the doors and boot. The key that only unlocked the doors is still the same so I guess there maybe some other problem with it.

At least I now have one working key and a backup as well as the manual emergency key and have saved £'s no doubt at the dealers.

I hope this helps others who may have a similar problem.

On the key that will not start the car it will be the coil on the end of the PCB there will be a break in the wire, most are easy to fix on the long keys :D

Thanks for the into' Malcom/Dec, all the keys start the car now.

The only problem is that one will unlock but not lock the doors or open the boot.

I'll take it apart again tonight to see if it looks like anything has fallen off the circuit board.

Here's a picture of my fob:

It's a three button one with unlock, lock and boot release.

OK so it will not lock and this should just be a broken leg on the tactile button, or its come away from the PCB, again an easy fix

Gents,

I can see the pcb board in the fob; it seems well fixed; does it pull straight out or do I need to lever it up in some way?

Just remove the white nylon strip, make a not of the way it fixes in, you can lift the wire with tweezers
