500SL (R129) Central Locking Issue

Hi All, I have a 1991 500SL and I have had a non working central locking issue,Ibelive it is a pump issue which is located in the boot near the battery, I have not yet attempted to remove itas it looks very difficult to do so, does anybody know how difficult ut is to remove as I have to take it out to find out what version of pump it is, also Ihave anothe problem, neither of my two door locks work with the keys, the key just turn loosley in the lock barrel (driver and passinger door locks) the boot lock is fine with the keyy but I cannot lock the rest of the car so I rely on the alarm system only

Can you hear the pump run when you lock it

It's easy enough to remove - you should be able to pull a pipe off to check whether any vacuum is present.

Can you hear the pump run when you lock it

I used to hear the pump when I first had the problem, but no longer, sometimes when I took the fuse out located in the boot of the SL the pump used to start working!

It's easy enough to remove - you should be able to pull a pipe off to check whether any vacuum is present.

Stats007, I can't seem toget my hand to it,it seems to be incased in a black rubber casing and located above the upper part of the offside rear wheel arch, I have scrapped my hand trying to get to it!! am i doing something wrong?
