A friend was hurtling on the autobahn to catch a ferry and was overtaken by a big BMW with the kids playing on the back seat whilst he was clung on for grim death on some type of Kawasaki ninja kickboxer or something.
He decided to catch the next one.
An hour from any port has to be a really dangerous place to be driving in. There are those would are late, flat out. Plus those who are early & are now trying to catch the earlier ferry. Living in Germany for 12 years taught me that.

I don’t often take the gate as well as the fence...:p:D

North Wales was never the place to get caught, I’m only surprised Brumstrom didn’t bring back hanging...
Mid Wales is much safer hardly ever policed. The A483 Newtown to Crossgates is a great road.

Only managed 155mph on quiet autobahn 20 years ago, & thats quick.
160mph on my way home from Southern Germany on an 'owl' style Fireblade.
It was raining and that was my limit as it felt like I was being machine-gunned and seeing the road ahead was getting to be a serious problem but it was my last chance.
The bike only touched full throttle when I shifted into sixth and from then on the self-preservation instincts kicked in.

I did a charity run about 12 years ago. The organiser, of which, was mates with a couple of Motorcycle Cops.

As parts of the run, we were 'escorted' into Manchester in the M602, with one Police bike upfront and one bringing up the rear.

Under blues & two's I saw an indicated 130, with a Police bike inches away from my back wheel, pushing us faster.:eek::eek::D

At least in Germany they expect fast vehicles to come up behind quickly, & they allow for them.

Not into lane 3, & the German police are quite active on the autobahn. They ban trucks from overtaking on most hills, & long sections when the autobahn is busy.

You should have been able to socially distance ride in the summer. I’m very much looking forward to getting back out on mine when the weather improves around here

Massive debate on some forums. For me it was solely a case of "suffering along with everyone else".

To be honest, the open spaces and mental well being of motorcycling was a missed opportunity. Suspect that will seize it in 2021.

I went out with my local IAM a few times and a few solo trips. Great for the mental health :)

Mine's also not been started since November 2019. Parked up for winter, then had a baby in January. 2020 Lockdown meant that the MOT was extended to 19/01/2021.

So been out there today giving it a good going over, drain the tank, fresh fuel, new battery and started on the button. Then gave it a quick wash (kept under a cover and mint anyway). Will get local specialist who I learned with and used for the past 20 years to do the MOT, oil and filter, plus anything else that they may advise. Then use it this summer.

This is my Daytona finally got her running correctly :)

This is my ZRX , not running at all.

Because of bunged up carbs.

Gave them an U/S clean yesterday and ordered new float bowl gaskets today as they are a major PITA to refit so not taking any chances.

Also fitted a new battery to the ZX12R as it struggled to start after four years , unsurprisingly, even though it was on a trickle charger. On removal it was a cheapo battery that had been fitted by the previous owner.

Beast Kenny! always fancied a zx12r too, I Had a Busa back in the day.

The Triumph's cutting out issue when the throttle was blipped turned out tobe a Rubber O ring in the TPS sensor, It was dragging just enough so when te throttle was blipped it was send the wrong voltage and cause it to over fuel.

I literally changed everything to try and sort the issue until a kind chap saw my "spares or repair" advert on ebay and told me about the fix lol

Good news it was a cheap fix and damn decent of the caller to tell you about it.

Always like the ZX styling but felt , at 6` 2", i was a bit too big for the 6 or 9 so 12 it was. Nice bike to ride , even though it is 18 years old and the modern bikes have moved the performance / handling goalposts massively over that time. Having said that 170hp and getting to 107mph at the redline in second gear (of six) is not to be sniffed at even by todays standards.

Yep Ballistic indeed, I like the older bikes, nice and chunky compared to the new stuff i'm 6.1 so can appreciate what you are saying, :)

I did offer to send the chap a drink via paypal for his trouble but he was just glad he could help so declined.

The old and the new

30th Anniversary R1200GSA 2011 and 40th Anniversary R1250GSA TE

IMG_8068.jpg

I don't have space for both so the 30th has gone to a new owner :(
As both are the same type of bike I can't see when I'd pick the R1200 over the R1250 so letting someone else enjoy it is the best thing to do - 10 years old, 4,000 miles and just serviced... someone will get a very nice bike indeed. :)
