I've been trying to find out if my car is compatible with the new E10 petrol. I can't seem to understand their notices.
My car is a 2005 Elegance C230 SE Automatic but is a 2006 model.
Can you advise please?
Thank you

That is what I thought.
I have a C200 Kompressor 2006. W203. I can't find out anywhere if my Kompressor is a CGI. Some sites suggest that it is and others that it isn't. I sent an email to Mercedes replying to their notice about E10 and asking for any queries. They replied by directing me to the gov website that gives exactly the same info as the post before yours.

Its is more of a problem than owners are aware of .. You need to stay on E5, the pump will have E5 on it ,, and the fully blown cvrap will be a yellow handle from what i have seen of them, but E5 will be the next to go so whats next, who knows ..Ho on one site they say to update the injection system i think they think its just a little areo engine like they have in model planes lol

As I understand it the CGI is turbocharged. If you have a supercharger you're good to go.

Here in Oz, any motor that is turbo or supercharged would use 95 octane or higher to retain the performance expected from such a motor. Don't know what octane rating your E10 fuel has but ours is less than 95.
We have the choice of E10 or straight unleaded 91 octane, which is suitable for older engines. Do you not have the choice there?

No… we have E10 at 95 octane and Super at 97-99

I do have a supercharger, and this is what I've seen elsewhere. However, some sites suggest that a kompressor is CGI?????

Just found this on line.

The CGI engine uses homogeneous direct injection with high-precision piezoelectric injectors combined with turbocharged for an increase in output from a small displacement engine. Alternatively, the Kompressor engine used a supercharger which drew its power from the engine, thereby increasing the petrol consumption.

So I'll just use the E10.

@LostKiwi

How has the french lawnmower fared over a winter using E10? Any rusty / junky carb issues?
None at all.
Cut the 2/3 acre patch on the last of 5he old E10 in the Jerry can (must be over 3 years old now) and it was fine. Ditto the 2 stroke strimmer and chainsaw.

Is your lawnmower a CGI or a Kompressor?
Good old 12.5hp Briggs and Stratton :)

Took the 129 out today too. Only 1/4 tank of 12 month old E10 but drove the 10 minutes to the local town on it no issues at all. €50 of Intermarché finest E10 and it's since burbled and roared its way about 130 miles or so perfectly happily.

I do love driving that car.

Like my 129 does, every year. It never gets used in winter and sits in our barn under a cover.
Never fails to start. Always runs perfectly afterwards.
Likewise the ride on mower, strimmer and chainsaw (that used to get used in winter till our wood supplier cut the logs to fit our wood burners).

I've used E5/E10 since it came on the market in a range of motors from 4 stroke strimmers and lawn mowers to 2 stroke chain saws and hedge cutters which are not used continuously without any problems either getting them started or running cleanly. Some of the petrol may stay in the Jerrycan over the winter and be used the next springtime without any problem.

Too much false rumour about E10. Just use it!! Personally, if I had a forced induction motor - turbo or super - I would use the higher octane fuel. Most of these engines use knock sensors and will perform better when using the better fuel. I had to put poorer fuel in a turbo motor once and the dropoff in performance was very noticeable. Took a few topups of better fuel for the motor to start performing well again.
