Correct- the labour content is about 2/2.5 hours for 4 x corners so it’s c£135/hour vs c£70/hour and the pads themselves are similarly priced really. Is there less than 3mm on the pads then?

Thanks John

I would say fronts around 3-5mm and tears around 4-6mm

I got the dash light reminding me (which is quite amazing since the A1 service is also on...)

I had considered an Indie and sourcing pads online to get original parts

That's the way I did it when I was concerned around warranty, Mobilo and all that jazz.

Routine items at MB, all else at good Indie. (Both CLS and C63 ran superbly after visits to Indie... was much less convinced after trips to MB!

So you’ve got a dash message for brakes at the moment?
Bit premature with those thicknesses but hey....better to be done before winter. An Indy will also be honest on those which you can’t always rely on a main dealer to be

Computer indicating wear in brake pads, they do look a wee bit on the thin side though (checked whilst swapping wheels). How much have any of yous paid at the MB dealership for this?

I would think about £400, the pads will be £80 to buy and as has been said a good indy will do it for considerably less ££££

You can get prices from MB Grangemouth for OEM pads, they do good forum discount

indeed strange, but i did the visual inspection i didn't take a calliper to it. IMHO i can get a couple of months of that easily, i don't drive the car daily and is usually long drives only!

You can also call them 01324 686002 parts department Steven Kilgannon is the parts manager, mention the forum for your discount.....
FYI I had a complete set of pads for my 63 for £320.11, so I’d expect yours to be somewhat less:D

Thanks John

I think I’m almost happy now , been quoted at my indie

£190 generic (front and back fitted)

£250 MB brand (front and back fitted)

I think pretty decent!

Thanks again!

Keep in mind that an Indie can do the servicing and keep any warranty you may have, intact. (as well as brakes etc)

This indie can’t but I’ll definitely look for one that does for the B service

Thanks alexanderfoti

Decent prices, they are probably exactly the same pads but in different boxes, if the indy uses Pagid pads as an aftermarket option then they will be the same as the MB pads.

You can buy a full set of Pagid pads from ECP for £47 using the code HALLOWEEN80

sadly they are not Pagid JBell, but will definitely start sourcing online for next
