Hi,

I just went to get into my CLK. The car detects when my key is close and so normally i just push a button on the door handle and open the door.

However, I have just done this and nothing. Thinking it might be the key...i got my spare and tried that. Nothing.

I used the key to get into the car and tried to start it with the start button. Nothing. Then using the key. Nothing.

Could this be the sign of a dead battery?

Thanks in advance.

Now worried.... Jason

Yes at this stage it does appear that the battery has gone flat, when was the last time that you used the car

I used it on Tuesday morning.

To be honest in the shock of my car not responding...I'd forgotten that the car is covered by mobilo and so got on the phone with them - who are sending someone out. They will only charge me if id done something like left the lights on which as its always auto...ohh bugger...

Ok, i've just remembered...i had switched the parking light on when parked on the corner of a really dark road on Monday night (first time i've done it...i'm sure i turned it back to auto...but now im thinking about it...did I?

Opps - I think that's just cost me £150.

The mobilo guy is on his way...oh dear.

All for a good cause, they need the money more than you

I'm an idiot really...'twas the parking light....my lights are on delayed switch off...and are usually still going as i pull down the garage door....so throw into the mix my forgetfulness coupled with the first time i ever decide to use the parking light...and forget to turn it off....

Luckily...i managed to contact Mobilo just before the engineer had left and cancel the callout & the £150 idiot fee...got the wee guy round the corner to attach those metal connector things to my battery from his car - and my car came back to life. I did think about changing the position of the parking light and pleading ignorance...but supposedly the shove it on the diagnostics and the car confesses all!

I'm through with that parking light feature...not sure i really got the point of it in the first place.
