Hi, I also have just bought a 55 plate clk, and two days in I cant shut the glove box. So could I to please have instructions on how to fix this?

My email is ian.hairworkshop@gmail.com

Thanks a lot

If you mean adjust the latch, see the post above yours.
Possibly though, it has been a problem for a while, and has been slammed a lot, in which case you may need a new glove box lid (the latch does not come separately).

The position of the 'striker' on the dash (that the mechanism in the lid latches to), can be adjusted with the T20 head immediately behind it in the glove box aperture.

Dig out a t20 driver and try this^^, before she does break it.

Sorted

:) thanks guys,

For anyone else who's interested, the T20 screw is hidden above the CD multichanger. This is easily removed by undoing another T20 screw to the left of the Cd chassis. It's approach from below. This then gives you a view of the catch screw, again approached from below. The screw loosens the catch allowing it to be pulled towards you and re tightened. Adjust to suit. It's basically a trade off between it catching without too much of a gap and it closing nicely. Some of the play can be taken out by adjusting the 2 rubber feet in or out.

Anyhow, I'm a happy bunny, thanks again:D

Thanks for posting Andy,,, many have the rubber adjusters too far out forcing the issue, as you say a delicate touch with them so that the lid does not rattle and no more.

Let me get this clear.

rfo wants a 208

Geezer wants a 208

James 99 wants a 209

The 208 I have, and I will do the 209 tonight

If it is the catch in the lid, the the lid must be replaced.

Glove box lid for CLK 220 CDi coupe 2005

My glove could not open and tried open with screw driver. Unfortunately the latch broken and can not shut the glove box. Where can I get glove box lid possibly second hand. Black colour.
I tried Mercedes dealer, price come up over £350 pounds plus fitting charge.

Any suggestion would be highly appreciated

He might answer you in about 6 month time.

BUT he will not be able to tell you how to fix it.
He might be able to email work instructions to replace it though, although it is easy enough. Also to adjust the catch, which has been discussed here.

There is good advice in this thread, maybe pick up on some of my posts in it?

To be honest it's easy to get the glove box out anyway, and I am not sure of a fix, this thread is full of 100's of people asking for a fix and I've yet to see one.

The only thing I know of is a paper that just tells you how it's put together.

I tried adjusting the catch on mine and doing all sorts, but it didn't help. I rarely use it anyway, it has the CD changer in and a few emergency things (torch etc). Everything I want as a person who sits on the drivers side is in the center compartment.

A tip for you though is that you don't need to slam it, just push it up to the top so it closes and then just apply a little more upward pressure and it latches.

Could I ask if any member has the info on the fix for this, would you be so kind as to e mail it to me. I have the same problem that now and again I have to give it a slam to get it to stay shut, so I like to address this before it gets worse..

My E-Mail is antonioj@live.co.uk

Thanks in advance.
