Hi all I've recently bought my first mercedes it's a 2013 cls 350 amg sport. The problem I'm having is that intermittently it won't change gear as it should. It bumps hard into first, sits in 2nd gear at 30mph reving high, and won't go over 3k revs with foot planted even in sports mode. If I stop the car and turn it off and on its totally normal again. A local mb spec plugged it in and couldn't find any faults so I'm lost as what do do next and times ticking on the warranty. Any thoughts would be welcome thanks.

That's the 7g Tronic gearbox? If so the conductor plate's probably the first suspect. Others will chime in, loads of people V knowledgeable on them here.

Thanks Matthew ill relay that to the garage in the week, it has been on the diagnostic machine and didn't show any faults but it definitely isn't right other than that the car is amazing such a shame obviously the reason it was traded in.

Its on 80k full mercedes service history but looking through it seems the last gear box oil change was done around 55k.

Yeah I know people with the same engine and gearbox over 100k no issues that's why I went for it, but things fail just hope they can get to the bottom of it quickly

I think the engine and gearbox are fine but it does feel like what ever is controlling them has the fault

I'm in eseex near Chelmsford they are an mb only garage so I hope they can sort it if not I've got a few more options to try. All depends on what kind of feedback I get when I explain it to them. If its a ghostly silence down the phone maybe time to look around lol.

Did you recently buy from a dealer because they should fix it .
I did used to use Waterhouse until they went full MB pricing a few years ago , they do have a subsidiary near Braintree (who I haven’t used ) that is apparently cheaper pricing .
My advice for future work is to drive to Alex Crow Merc Specialist in Stowmarket , Suffolk . Top chap with very excellent pricing , takes just under an hour for me .

If I am correct its 37,500 miles gearbox oil changes on yours, so you are not far off one now.

One thing about automatic transmission's ( and not only MB ones either) is that the condition and the level of the oil play a very important role in how its behaving... With the 722.6.. trans, its a very simple job to check the level and condition of the oil. And all because you can use a dipstick ( same as dipping the engine oil) so its dip color will give you an idea about its condition, and of course if its at the correct level or not. And based on this, you can arrive at certain conclusions.
But with the 722.9 trans, its a completely different story,, its a major operation to check the level and condition. So it well may be that a change might be the quickest way. Of course, if you opt for a change, ask them to check first what is the oil is like before they change it.

Sounds like conductor plate. Speed sensor signal getting lost hence the 3k limit? Try reading a d talking to https://www.ecutesting.com/common-f...ojH2xwbd8lyqHktdkZsx1JfDMRRciv2QaAtrtEALw_wcB
