I may be funny here, but I'd want all of the plugs out, and to put in new ones....

Agreed but its it worth risking the engine due to swarf or paying hundreds for head removal? Or do you think there is a safe and relatively cheap way forward?

The specialist says that the broken plugs are firmly in and will not blow out. They are presumably used only in really cold weather to start the engine or is that not the case?

The adjacent injector is removed and an airline supplies a positive pressure to keep out swarf when removing and drills and reamers have a coat of grease to retain crud as well.
The car can be run for a while with an injector cleaner to help remove carbon before starting and the glow plugs can be soaked regularly in a proper dismantling agent this is all bread and butter stuff, you just haven't found the right person yet.

Here

They are well regarded on here, although I have not had personal dealings with them.

PS. If they are the Indie dealing with the car, there is Alex Crow in Suffolk, Colin in Southampton and Star in reading who all contribute to this forum and are recommended on here by those who go.

GULP! they may know there stuff but doesnt mean they are a good garage. UNLESS you class a good garage as one that is suppose to take care of an agree task but then starts changing other parts like tyres..etc without the owners consent....

Many cases but unfortunately not many mentioned on here about them.
