E350 Bluetec - Whining/Air leak sound upon hard acceleration.

Hi,

My car has suddenly started to make this very strange, and quite loud whining/air leak sound when accelerating hard.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

My mechanic test drove it for just 1 minute and said my turbo is beginning to fail even though earlier, he said it was just a seal around the turbo but that never fixed the issue and I went back to him.
However since my car has not lost any power whatsoever can it really be the turbo?

I do generally drive my car quite hard, and its had a stage 1 ECU tune for around 3 years now.

Split charge hoses, bad seals on charge hoses - smoke test would be the way forward.

Split boost hoses are common. Also check the intercooler hasn't a leak. The salt can get them and make a pinhole.
Also check all the exhaust manifold bolts are there and none have broken though that's more an issue with 4 pots.
