Joy o joy, guess what.......Brickies arrived in full force today and now we have all the brick work ready for the steel beams which will be lifted into place on Friday. At long last things are getting under way again  This means after Friday it'll be ready for the builder to put up the rafters and Purlin's ready for the roofer.

@00slk Are you having a floating floor? Asking for a friend......

You read my mind, although this will be in the future............And when finances allow :( I had a Mezzanine floor in the garage in NZ, great place to store car parts, well a complete body in bits to be precise :D

Yesterday I spent most of the day drilling holes through the steel beams to bolt the wood too, and moving the steel beams across the drive. Now very achy and taking things quietly today flushing my radiator on the E Class :)

I think there's something lost in translation here, a Floating Floor construction is not the same as a mezzanine floor!

I think they were talking about the floating floor needed when working on the 230 :p

I remember oxidising and drilling over 100ft of steel for the cut roof on my own house, cursing whole way through it why did I have to make the house so long

Glad I am not the only one, you have my sympathy Kev ;)
I only had twenty seven 10mm holes to drill, very proud of myself as I only broke one 5mm pilot drill bit and that was because I leant on it too hard to start the second to last pilot hole. I bought a whole pile of 5mm and 10mm drills from Screwfix expecting them to break or blunt easily. Only use 3 drill bits including the busted one :D I must have been doing something right :)

Finally the steel beams have been lifted into position ready for the chippy to put up the rafters and purlins.
Luckily the wind wasn't too bad yesterday, it could have got scary.
However today I've had to tie the main beam down as it was rocking alittle in the nasty gusts. Now that was scary. We had to lie the 2 other beams over on an angle as the wind knocked the front one over.
Looking forward to next week as the chippy is booked :)

I love the way it dominates the neighbourhood already, :) should be a local landmark for years to come. Don't forget the flag pole, cupola, viewing platform and lightning conductor. Loving your work Sir. Have you considered crenellations ?

It has attracted some attention as I have noticed quite a few cars driving down behind us, only to find it is a no through road
Got the flags, the viewing platform we're not going to be able to access, realised a door at that point would be too close to the top beam, however I've got a B B gun somewhere which might just be placed in the appropriate direction :D
