Heater booster fault code; S211.222

Have a S211.222, E320 CDI, 2006.
There is a fault code on the Heater booster:

It is not active, but it reappears after reset.

Could it be connected to that the battery went low and I haven't recharged it properly after that?

No. You heater booster is malfunctioning (it is built 3/6 heater elements depending on age, some of the elements gone bad).

Is it true that I have to remove the whole dashboard and dismantle the heating system to get to the element?

Yes, unfortunately. BUT if you are not having current leak and get at some heat fron vents I wouldn't bother... Do you have aux heater (Webasto) fitted?
