Before the new C-class was launched Merc found that the average C-Class estate buyer was 57.

Must have upset them a bit!
John

I find that very hard to believe indeed. Do you have a link to that information please?

Any evidence to back up this view?

Life is not fair. Although I bought my wife a used 190 in 1991, and it was flawless for the 10 years she kept it, I could not afford my own until 2003. Well, I probably could, but to get to a decent spec they were just too expensive compared with other cars.
Perhaps becuase so many people felt this, MB introduced a number of hitherto extras as standard fit over recent years.
Now we have 3 MBs. I am delighted to say that they cost me tax, insurance and MOT plus fuel each year, and a service every 2 years (or 15,000 miles, but usually 2 years).
So if you can afford one, they can be cheap to keep. If you can't afford one, you buy a cheaper car then spend more money on repairs and with less reliability.
Life is not fair.

have recently been gifted a TE320 7seater, which is my first MB!

i'm 41 and have 3 kids so love the extra seating:D

since passing my test have driven a variety of boring company cars, however the last was a chrysler cirrus 2.5l v6 , when based in usa, which was fun.

since leaving "suited and booted" lifestyle have enjoyed a 1987 honda civic "dual carb" 1400cc 16v, awesome small car fun :p until the kids came along:mad: then an audi 100 avant 2.0l which i have to say was a SUPERIOR vehicle and a sad loss last year :(

now have an ex police TSG 12 seater, extra long wheelbase, twin rear axle, hicube transit. 2.5td with loads of police extas  which has moved our belongings between 2 homes and does kids trips out, weekends away as well as carrying loads of building materials.

now i have a 320TE to enjoy

living in the country with twisty little roads, i love the contrast of slinging a hugh transit around, with all the associated gear changes, getting the apexes spot on, with the power of the 320 "punched" at the right time 'round the same roads!

overtaking was never so easy!!!

glad to have found the forum!

here's hoping the beast won't give me a reason to be anything other than an occasional visitor!!!

regards
stephen

I never thought I´d be in the largest group!! Or should I say, I never thought the largest group would be so young!!

Pete. (36 now, although I bought my E300TD when I was 34)

Yes and worth reiterating that the question is not 'how old were you when you bought your FIRST Mercedes but instead is how old are you now. And some may be on their third, fourth or whatever Mercedes.

Secondly, one large group (56 to 65)is only large because it covers twice as many years as the other groups. Guessing it is probably 7-8% aged 56 to 60 and 5-6% aged 61 to 65. Using these figures, we have a pretty classic bell shaped distribution.

1st merc

Go my 1st at 41 yrs old, a 190e. Now have a w124 280E, full leather interior, no air con, nice alloys. Great to drive, but the front wheel arches are starting to go.

At the age of about 9 or 10 a familly friend had a big black merc (c1969/70). Dont know what type but I remember the white steering wheel with the chrome ring in the middle and I'm sure it had the upright rectangular headlights and a front bench seat. Real gangster car and suited him an east end wide boy type, down to the ground. I decided at that time that when I was grown up I would have a big black merc. Got the big merc, just need to get a black one.

I'm 41 and this is my first Merc. Got a S320CDi. I'd never thought if I was the right age or not for owning such a car. I have gone through the fast car stage in life and want something a bit more practical with a few more comforts.

Hi, my first post on here.

I'm 49 (don't remind me!) and have just bought my first Merc, a 2000 CLK320, the replacement for my beloved 3.0 Elite Omega.

Any hint and tips welcome, as are recommendations for servicing in Kent, preferably near(ish) to Rochester. :)

Just leave it parked up in certain areas, and those Nice Men will crate it up and export it to Nigeria on your behalf.

Oh -almost forgot. You won't recieve any payment for it (except via your insurance, maybe)
