I want a Maserati, im waiting, watching, its such an unpredictable market. . . .

A bloke at work replaced his M3 with a Maserati. (He wrote his M3 off due to lack of road/skill when a 3 lanes into 2 didn't quite go as planned & he ended up hitting the van he was overtaking & spun his car several times )
I can't think now which model it was but he couldn't get on with various nannying 'foibles' and ended up part-ex'ing it for another Go-Faster M3 within a couple of months

When we sold our CLK55 in 2011, the buyer had just sold a Maserati because he was fed up of one warning lamp or another coming on every time he drove it, and each time costing £1000...

He doesn't sound like an opinion worth considering.

I'm sure Maserati are like any complex car, they must be maintained and exercised. I assume there are Maserati specialist garages, like those we trust our Mercedes to.

But they're not German, they're Italian, from the Ferrari factory no less. You buy them knowing they can be temperamental and you love them all the more as they empty your pockets. At this level, cars are an obsession, a heady mixture of love & fear. Only the madness in us will entertain the idea. But maybe the one you're buying will be reliable...

It wasn't a maintenance thing ... it was the way various things worked on the car

I think it’s wise to wait a while too. That’s exactly what I’ve decided. If nothing else it allows time to thoroughly research the car and it’s foibles.
Very wise.

It seems hardly anyone specs air suspension on their new cars.
I’ve yet to find a used one within my price range and I’m led to believe it was only a £1000 option.
I’m going to have to start seriously looking at the smaller engined cars, but up to now none of those have it either.
At the moment I’m still luckily only researching until the perfect car comes along
I’ve even been looking at the E Class offerings but the same story there with Airmatic too!
Is it really something to be avoided considering the rear has it as standard?

I did see a CLS350cdi SB with Airmatic on Autotrader about 4 months back. It sold in a couple of days. It had the lovely pale grey interior, too...

The road tests I've seen all compliment the Airmatic ride - Merc would have put it on the press cars for a reason.

Agreed about the press reviews. They all like it. (Well, all the ones I’ve seen anyhoo!)
I wonder if the option puts it above a certain budget amount for company buyers.
Or perhaps there’s an inherent distrust of the system from the early days...

It pushed the W213 over the £40k VED bracket. I know the road testers raves about it (they would) I found my W213 on 17” wheels and normal suspension exceptionally comfortable (after a VW CV for a short time and a BM 5 series before that)

Indeed. Even my old S210 was a beautiful ride but I really want cosseting these days, in my post retirement days. Spending around £20K on a car is a big move for me so I hope to get everything I want. If not I may as well run my 2008 Focus Estate into the ground! (Not far to go! :D)

You can right now get a brand new W213 E220d SE Estate for just less than £30k  in a choice of colours and interiors directly from Mercedes. Or you could get a 2016 S500 for the same money...
There’s some great deals out there at the moment
