Well i need to find something cheaper . I can buy OEM intake manifold from my country with 500£ but they wont work with my parts . I need to find a place where they accept my part or give me a better price for their own .

But even so , the air sound has nothing to do with the intake manifold , the car goes into limp mode since september and 30k miles done and the sound is new , it has several days .... they could be related but they also could not be , as long as here they cannot check this problem till the manifold its not changed i dont know what else to say

Good luck with that, I would not have suggested going to an Indie if I had known you wanted to take your own parts, there are any number of reasons why that wont happen .

You can phone around for a "better price" now you have a diagnosis but I would say that there will not be much in it if you get 3 quotes, and other factors such as location could wipe out the value of say 5% cheaper quote which I believe would be the best you will get

I'd be surprised if a reputable indie would accept you bringing your own parts, especially from an unknown source, as they will not guarantee the work or that it will fix the problem.

If you have said that you wanted to take your own parts[which I believe are used] then I would not have replied to you ,just advise you to find someone to fit it.In terms of less reputable I would advise you go elsewhere rather than this forum which is all about reputable and value,it appears you know more about price than value

you cant be more wrong because my parts are new , anyway i think this discussion is going in the wrong direction only because i worked for my money like most of you guys but i dont accept throwing them on the window just because a shop or a specialist is reputable . In the end its still the same part with the same code . Ill delete this post , thanks for the advices and i wish u luck with your cars

Yes ok good luck to you as well

To help you earlier I emailed them to say that you had been on the forum and to look out for you based on your car and need

I have since been in touch to say that I didn't realise you wanted them to fit your own supplied parts.I am aware of the detail

Cheers

Fair enough and thanks for that but still not worth it to pay 1k for something that i can buy with 500 if they asked 600-700-800 it would be ok but double is too much for me . U got me wrong , i dont want to go with my part , but in the same time i dont want to pay it double

Ok but for the benefit of someone reading this post in the future ,Its not fair to say they want double when the two things are not comparable. His part is a UK MB part with guarantees, yours is a non uk, non verified source ,I am sure its a great part but its not comparable and therefore its not double

I'm quite surprised at the hostility that is being shown to Fanaky over a perfectly reasonable question. I also have found that any good indie or garage I have dealt with in the past will quite happily fit owner supplied parts, but just adjust their warranty on the work to suit. After all, we pretty much all fit non MB parts to our cars! How many forum members will only fit tyres to their car that have been supplied direct by an MB dealer? I in the past have often bought my own parts and supplied as many are pattern anyway. For example a Bilstein shock for my S Class was £200 cheaper than MB despite being the same part! For second hand parts, if they can be inspected / tested and the owner is prepared to take the risk it may not work, I don't see a problem. It is after all much better for the environment, and most crashed / written off cars still have a large number of servicable and maybe even nearly new components.

My indy is happy to fit parts supplied by me. In the past I have supplied discs, pads, oil and plugs and saved myself a fair bit.

I'm sure MSL would do the same if the OP contacted the owner and explained his situation. ( Acid 07765 444 447)

Acid will happily do the same but he does stress they will not warrent the work so you could pay for the work to be done a d it won't fix the problem, just a risk you take.
Is your 270 a 612 or 647 engine?

And of course this issue exists with all mechanics and new parts too!! How many stories have we seen in here where people take their cars in to have it diagnosed and the dealer or garage replaces a part they have diagnosed to be the problem only for the same issue to exist afterwards.
