I don't think that was the problem. I suspect it was more about the OP being hostile about the indy refusing to fit parts he hadn't sourced and this is something I totally understand.After all, we pretty much all fit non MB parts to our cars!
I have a friend who is a VAG specialist who won't fit parts supplied by owners unless he knows them well. The reason being that if the customer supplies the wrong parts he could be left with a vehicle stripped down in his workshop occupying a bay he may need for other work while the owner sorts it out.
He will fit parts for me as he trusts I will get it right.
As above though he won't warrant the work but that's something I accept.
I only use him for odd jobs I should point out as I normally do things myself but if time is tight or if it needs tools I don't have (presses for example).
