R230 distronic badge

I have a 2003 r230 sl350 with distronic, the plastic that covers the merc badge is looking a bit yellow, has anyone tried a headlight restoration kit on it and sanded it down etc ?

Mine had 'crazed' on my 230, I ended up buying a complete OEM grille for £130 or thereabouts, as it was driving me nuts and it wasn't possible to just replace the 'badge' part alone. I believe you can get copies now on ebay
